If you’re like me, you probably don’t think much about Dacia. The Romanian brand, owned by Renault Group, has a reputation for making cheap and cheerful cars more about function than form. But that might change soon because Dacia just unveiled three new models at the Geneva International Motor Show that are anything but boring. Let me introduce you to the All-New Dacia Duster, the New Dacia Spring, and the Dacia Sandrider.
All-New Duster: The Affordable SUV That Doesn’t Compromise
The Duster is Dacia’s best-selling model, and for good reason. It’s a spacious, versatile, and rugged SUV that can handle any terrain, from city streets to mountain trails. And it’s also one of the most affordable SUVs on the market, starting at under $22,000.
But don’t let the low price fool you. The All-New Duster, the model's third generation, is more refined and advanced than ever. It’s based on the CMF-B platform, which is shared with other Renault Group vehicles, and it offers a range of engines to suit everyone’s needs. You can choose from the ECO G100 LPG, which runs on liquefied petroleum gas, the HYBRID 140, which combines a petrol engine with an electric motor, or the 48V TCe 130 mild-hybrid, which uses a 48-volt battery to boost performance and efficiency. And you can also opt for either a 4x2 or a 4x4 transmission, depending on how adventurous you are.
The design of the All-New Duster is also more robust and assertive, with a wider stance, a higher ground clearance, and a more muscular front end. The interior is more comfortable and ergonomic, with a customizable digital dashboard, a 7-inch touchscreen, and a wireless smartphone charger. The All-New Duster also comes with a host of safety and convenience features, such as blind spot warning, hill descent control, and multi-view camera.
The Dacia Duster is the perfect example of how Dacia delivers the essentials without compromising on quality or style. It’s a family SUV that can do it all, and it won’t break the bank.
New Spring: The Electric Car That Weighs Less Than a Ton
The new Spring is Dacia’s first full-electric car, and it’s a game-changer. It’s the only electric car in Europe that weighs less than a ton, which means it’s more efficient and agile than its competitors. And it’s also the electric car with the best price-performance ratio in Europe, starting at under $15,000.
The 2024 Dacia Spring is a compact city car that can seat four people and has a generous boot space of 300 liters. It has a range of 140 miles on a single charge, which is more than enough for most urban drivers. And it can be recharged in less than an hour using a fast charger, or overnight using a standard outlet.
The New Spring also has a new exterior and interior design, which makes it more appealing and modern. It has a sleek and dynamic silhouette, with LED headlights, a chrome grille, and 15-inch alloy wheels. The interior is more digital and connected, with a 10-inch multimedia central screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a Dacia Connect app that lets you control the car remotely.
The New Spring is available in two power outputs: 45 hp on the Essential and Expression trims, and 65 hp on the Expression and Extreme trims. The latter also offers a sport mode, which increases the acceleration and top speed. The New Spring is more versatile than ever, and it’s still as electrifying as ever.
