Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric: A Versatile and Efficient Solution for Urban Professionals

Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric

Renault is expanding its range of electric vehicles with the introduction of the Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric, a medium-sized van that offers a practical and eco-friendly alternative for urban delivery and service professionals. The Trafic Van E-Tech Electric is the latest addition to Renault’s all-electric light commercial vehicle line-up, which includes the Kangoo Van E-Tech Electric, the Master E-Tech Electric, and the ZOE Van.

The Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric is based on the successful Trafic model, which has sold over 2.4 million units since its launch in 1980. The electric version retains all the strengths of the combustion engine version, such as a spacious and modular loading area, a comfortable and ergonomic cabin, and a wide range of configurations and customization options. However, it also adds the benefits of an electric powertrain, such as zero tailpipe emissions, low noise levels, smooth and responsive driving, and access to low-emission zones.

Performance and Range

The Trafic Van E-Tech Electric is powered by a 90 kW (122 hp) electric motor that delivers 245 Nm of instant torque. The motor is paired with a 52 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides up to 297 km range. This is enough to cover a typical day of urban driving for most professionals while reducing ownership and maintenance costs.

The battery pack can be charged from 15% to 80% in 60 minutes using a fast charger (DC) or in about 6 hours using a standard charger (AC). The battery pack also comes with an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty and will be replaced free of charge if its state of health drops below 70% of its nominal level.

The Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric also features an Eco mode that limits the power output to optimize the range and a Long Range mode that limits the top speed to 90 km/h and extends the range to 322 km. The driver can also use regenerative braking to recover energy when decelerating or going downhill.

Design and Dimensions

The Trafic Van E-Tech Electric has a distinctive design that sets it apart from the combustion engine version. The front grille features a blue chrome finish and an E-Tech logo, while the rear doors have an Electric badge. The van also has blue accents on the wheel caps, side moldings, and LED daytime running lights.

The van is available in two lengths (L1 and L2) and two heights (H1 and H2), offering different loading capacities and dimensions. The L1H1 version has a length of 5.08 meters, a height of 1.97 meters, a load volume of 5.8 cubic meters, and a payload capacity of 1.1 tonnes. The L2H2 version has a length of 5.48 meters, a height of 2.50 meters, a load volume of 8.9 cubic meters, and a payload capacity of 0.9 tonnes.

The electric van also offers a high level of modularity and versatility, thanks to features such as a trap door in the partition that allows loading items up to 4.15 meters long in the L2 version, a folding passenger seat that creates a flat floor and increases the load volume by 0.6 cubic meters, and a towing capacity of up to 750 kg. The electric van can also be converted into a double cab panel van with seating up to six people or a flatbed version with an open loading area.

Comfort and Technology

The Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric offers a comfortable and ergonomic cabin that can serve as a mobile office for professionals on the go. The cabin features an adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, an adjustable steering wheel, air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, cruise control, and keyless entry.

The cabin also offers plenty of storage space, with up to 88 liters of compartments distributed throughout the dashboard, doors, console, glove box, and bench seat. The glove box can be replaced by an EasyLife drawer that slides out towards the driver for easy access. The middle seat can also be folded down to create a desk or a table with a notepad storage slot.

The van is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as navigation, radio, Bluetooth, USB ports, and wireless charging. The system also displays battery status, range, charging, and energy consumption information.

The van also features a range of safety and driver assistance systems, such as a rearview camera, parking sensors, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, and hill start assist.

Personalized Support and Services

Renault offers personalized support and services to help customers make the switch to electric vehicles with complete peace of mind. The manufacturer provides a preliminary study of the customer’s needs and usage patterns and advice on the best charging solutions for their location and activity.

Renault also offers a range of financing and leasing options, as well as maintenance and warranty packages that cover the vehicle, the battery, and the electric components. The manufacturer also provides access to a network of over 359 approved body makers that can customize the van according to the customer’s specifications.

The Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric is a versatile and efficient solution for urban professionals needing a spacious and practical van that can reduce their environmental impact and operating costs. The E-Tech Electric offers high performance, range, design, comfort, and technology while benefiting from Renault’s expertise and support in electric mobility. The Trafic Van E-Tech Electric will go on sale in 2023 in Europe, with prices to be announced closer to the launch date.
