The "spider" version of the Ferrari 296 GTB plug-in hybrid has finally arrived. The brand new 296 GTS from Maranello will amaze as much as its sister, and in addition, it will be able to count on the foldable hardtop, which, when put to rest, will allow the driver to fully enjoy the summer with the wind in their hair. As per tradition, the 296 GTS stands for "Gran Turismo Spider" while the 296 GTB stands for "Gran Turismo Berlina" (as long as we can talk about a sports sedan).
The new Ferrari 296 GTS plug-in hybrid sports car inherits the mechanics and chassis of the Ferrari 296 GTB sports car, adding a touch of personality. Starting from the rigid roof and can be opened with an electric command in just 14 seconds, even when traveling up to 45 km / h.
The bonnet has been embellished with a glass that enhances the cavalry behind the seats, thanks to the powerful V6 petrol engine, which is clearly visible. Flavio Manzoni, the designer and stylistic father of this newborn, decided to give a distinctive style to the Ferrari GTS sports car, thus making it decidedly captivating but always in Ferrari style.
This hybrid sports car is not simply a classic Ferrari spider but has a personality of its own that distinguishes it from its coupé sister, and with few but marked elements, it emphasizes its uniqueness.
In the Maranello house, performance and speed reign supreme. With the new Ferrari 296 GTS plug-in hybrid sports car, these characteristics are enhanced by the hybrid system ( Full Hybrid ), which allows not only to travel for 25 km in fully electric mode (with an eye to the environment) but to offer a system that provides high performance with maximum fun.
The two engines, the 663 hp 2.9 l V6 petrol engine, positioned in the center of the car, behind the seats, and the 167 hp electric one, derived from Formula 1, work in symbiosis to maximize efficiency and performance. The battery that powers the electric motor is 7.45 Kw / h.
The gearbox is an eight-speed double-clutch with swift engagement, derived from that adopted by the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. It travels with a total of 830 HP, and you can all feel it in driving on the track. The maximum torque is also remarkable: 740 Nm at 6,250 rpm. It takes 2.9 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km / h, only 7.6 seconds to reach 200 km / h, and the maximum speed exceeds 330 km / h.
For the most demanding, even on this Ferrari 296 GTS plug-in hybrid sports car, we find the sensitive retractable rear spoiler (adjusts according to speed), which in the Assetto Fiorano version, produces a load on the vertical axis of 360 kg at 250 km / h, aimed at maximizing traction on the front axle.
The electronically adjustable Multimatic suspension, borrowed from the racing team, maximizes performance on the track and makes the car even more responsive. In addition, some aerodynamic appendages in carbon lighten the Ferrari 296 GTS plug-in hybrid sports car by 8 kilograms and make it even more "bad" and streamlined.
