Hyundai IONIQ 6 named Best in Class for safety by Euro NCAP

Hyundai IONIQ 6

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 has been named Best in Class by Euro NCAP in the Large Family Car category, making it one of the safest electric cars on the market. Euro NCAP, the European New Car Assessment Program, is an independent organization that assesses vehicle safety based on four areas: Protection of Adults, Protection of Children, Pedestrians, and Driver Assistance Systems. The Hyundai IONIQ 6 excelled in all categories, achieving maximum five-star ratings for safety.

The IONIQ 6's safety features include Hyundai's Smart Sense Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, which ensure the highest level of safety and comfort on the road. One such feature is Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), which helps center the car in the lane, maintain speed, and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front when driving. With HDA 2, the IONIQ 6 achieves Level 2 in self-driving technology, making it capable of overtaking the car in front.

Another notable feature is the Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), which uses the navigation system's road information to optimize automated driving and performs speed adjustments for safe driving through curves and intersections. Additionally, the IONIQ 6 is equipped with seven airbags as standard, including a center airbag at the driver's seat for enhanced passive safety.

The IONIQ 6's victory in the Large Family Car category follows its successful safety test in Euro NCAP last year, where it achieved exceptionally high results in the Protection of Adults, Protection of Children, and Driver Assistance Systems. According to Euro NCAP, the IONIQ 6 protected all critical body regions for both the 6- and 10-year-old mannequin in front and side tests, with maximum points in the assessment section.

Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, Vice President of Marketing, Product and PR at Hyundai Motor Europe, said, "Hyundai is committed to offering all road users the highest possible level of safety while providing innovative mobility solutions for our customers. This award from Euro NCAP underlines our industry-leading position in the mobility of the future."
