Opel Vivaro-e: The Award-Winning Electric Van That Delivers on All Fronts

Opel Vivaro-e: The Award-Winning Electric Van That Delivers on All Fronts

If you are looking for a commercial vehicle that combines zero-emission mobility, high performance, and practical versatility, you might want to check out the Opel Vivaro-e. This electric van has impressed both experts and customers with its outstanding features and capabilities, earning it the prestigious International Van of the Year 2021 award.

The Opel Vivaro-e is the first fully electric van from Opel, and it is based on the same platform as the diesel and petrol versions. This means it offers the same dimensions, load capacity, and towing ability as its conventional counterparts but with a much lower operating cost and environmental impact.

Power and Range

The Opel Vivaro-e is powered by a 136 hp electric motor that delivers 260 Nm of torque, enabling a top speed of 81 mph. The motor is fed by a lithium-ion battery pack that comes in two sizes: 50 kWh and 75 kWh, providing a range of up to 143 miles and 205 miles, respectively, according to the WLTP cycle. These figures are among the best in the electric van segment, surpassing rivals such as the Mercedes eVito and the Volkswagen ABT e-Transporter.

The batteries can be recharged to 80% in just 30 or 45 minutes using a 100 kW DC fast charger. Alternatively, you can use a single-phase 7.4 kW AC charger or a three-phase 11 kW AC charger, which will take longer but are more widely available. The batteries are covered by an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty, giving you peace of mind.

Versatility and Practicality

The Opel Vivaro-e electric van can be configured to suit different needs and preferences, with three lengths (4.6 m, 4.95 m, and 5.3 m), two heights (1.9 m and 2.0 m), and various body styles, such as panel van, double cab, platform cab, and passenger version. The load volume ranges from 4.6 to 6.6 cubic meters, and the payload capacity goes up to 1,226 kg. The Vivaro-e can also tow up to 1,000 kg of braked trailer.

The Opel Vivaro-e has a clever flex cargo system that allows you to extend the load length by folding down the front passenger seat and opening a flap in the bulkhead. This way, you can transport items up to 4.02 m long in the L2 version. The sliding side doors are also automatic, which means you can open and close them with a button on the key fob or by waving your foot under the rear bumper.

Safety and Technology

The Opel Vivaro-e electric van is also equipped with a range of advanced driver assistance systems, such as lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot alert, adaptive cruise control, head-up display, and a rear-view camera. These features help you drive more safely and comfortably in various situations.

The infotainment system features a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. You can also access various functions and information through the Opel Connect app, such as remote charging control, trip planning, vehicle status, and maintenance alerts.

Customer Satisfaction

The Opel Vivaro-e has already won many customers across Europe, especially in the public sector and large corporations that are committed to reducing their carbon footprint and operating costs. For example, VINCI Energies, a global leader in energy and information technology services, has ordered 1,000 units of the Opel Vivaro-e for its French subsidiary. The company plans to use electric vans for its technicians and engineers who work on various projects related to energy efficiency, digital transformation, and smart mobility.

The Vivaro-e is part of Opel’s electrification strategy, which aims to offer an electrified version of every model in its portfolio by 2024. The German brand has already launched several electric and plug-in hybrid models, such as the Opel Corsa-e, the Opel Mokka-e, the Opel Grandland X Hybrid4, and the Opel Zafira-e Life. Opel is also developing a hydrogen fuel cell version of the Vivaro-e, which will offer a range of over 249 miles and a refueling time of only three minutes.

Conclusion

The Opel Vivaro-e is a great choice for commercial customers who want to save money and protect the environment and for private customers who need a spacious and versatile vehicle for their family or leisure activities. The Vivaro-e combines the best of both worlds: a van's practicality and reliability, and an electric vehicle's efficiency and sustainability.

If you want to learn more about the Opel Vivaro-e or book a test drive, please visit your nearest Opel dealer or check out their website. You will be amazed by what this electric van can do for you.
