Amazfit GTR 3 Pro: A smartwatch that offers style, features, and value

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro: A smartwatch

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is a smartwatch that combines elegant design, rich functionality, and affordable price. It is compatible with both Android and iOS devices and offers a range of features such as Alexa voice assistant, Bluetooth calling, GPS tracking, 150 sports modes, heart rate, blood oxygen, stress monitoring, and more. It also boasts a large and bright AMOLED display, a rotating crown, and a long battery life.

But how does it compare to other smartwatches in the market, such as the Apple Watch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch, or the Fitbit Versa? Is it worth buying, especially now that it has dropped to an all-time low price of $119.991 from its original $189.99? Now, we will review the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro and see if it can deliver on its promises.

Design and display

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has a classic round watch design that looks stylish and premium. It has a stainless steel case that measures 46mm in diameter and 10.8mm in thickness and weighs 51.5g without the strap. It comes with two options for the strap: brown leather, which gives it a more formal look, or black silicone, which is more suitable for sports and casual wear. The straps are 22mm wide and can be easily swapped with other compatible bands.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has a rotating crown on the right side of the case, which can be used to scroll through the menus, adjust the volume, or activate the voice assistant. It also has a button below the crown, which can be used to go back, turn on the screen, or access the quick settings. The crown and the button have a nice tactile feedback, but the crown feels a bit cheap when pressed.

The back of the case is made of plastic, which is a bit disappointing for a premium smartwatch. It has a magnetic charging port and a BioMetric 3.0 health sensor that can measure your heart rate, blood oxygen, stress level, and breathing rate. The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has a water-resistance rating of 5 ATM, which means it can withstand water pressure up to 50 meters. This makes it suitable for swimming, showering, or washing your hands but not for diving or snorkeling.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has a 1.45-inch AMOLED display that has a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels and a pixel density of 331 ppi. This makes it one of the sharpest and brightest displays among smartwatches, and it is easily visible even under direct sunlight. The display has a 2.5D curved glass that is smooth to the touch and easy to swipe on. It also has an anti-fingerprint coating that prevents smudges and scratches.

The display has a screen-to-body ratio of 70.6%, which is among the highest for round smartwatches. It has a thin black bezel around the edge, which has a scale that shows the minutes. The display can show a variety of watch faces, some of which are customizable. You can also download more watch faces from the Zepp app or create your own using your photos.

The display can be set to always-on mode, which shows a simplified version of the watch face with minimal battery drain. You can also turn on the raise-to-wake feature, which turns on the display when you lift your wrist. The display has an adaptive brightness feature, which adjusts the brightness according to the ambient light. You can also manually adjust the brightness from 1 to 5 levels.

Features and performance

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro runs on a new smartwatch operating system called Zepp OS, which is developed by Zepp Health, the parent company of Amazfit. The Zepp OS is designed to offer a smooth and intuitive user experience, with a vertically scrolling menu that can be accessed by swiping up or down on the display, or by rotating the crown. The menu shows the widgets, which are small cards that display information such as health metrics, weather, music, notifications, and more. You can customize the order and the number of widgets from the Zepp app.

The Zepp OS also has a horizontally scrolling menu that can be accessed by swiping left or right on the display, or by pressing the button. The menu shows the apps, which are icons that launch various functions such as sports modes, heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, breathing, sleep, PAI, alarm, timer, stopwatch, compass, barometer, find phone, and more. You can also customize the order and the number of apps from the Zepp app.

The Zepp OS has a built-in app store, which can be accessed by swiping left from the main watch face, or by pressing the crown. The app store lets you download additional apps for your smartwatch, such as calculator, calendar, notes, world clock, and more. However, the app store is not very well-stocked at the moment, and it lacks big-name apps such as Spotify, Google Maps, Uber, and more. Hopefully, the app store will grow in the future as more developers join the Zepp OS platform.

The Zepp OS also supports voice control, which can be activated by long-pressing the crown, or by saying “Hey, Zepp”. You can use voice control to perform various tasks, such as setting an alarm, checking the weather, starting a sports mode, opening an app, and more. The voice control works offline, so you don’t need an internet connection to use it. However, the voice control is not very accurate at times, and it may not understand your commands or respond correctly.

The Zepp OS also supports Alexa voice assistant, which can be activated by long-pressing the button, or by saying “Alexa”. You can use Alexa to perform more advanced tasks, such as asking a question, getting a translation, controlling smart home devices, and more. The Alexa voice assistant works online, so you need an internet connection to use it. However, the Alexa voice assistant is more accurate and more responsive than the offline voice control, and it can handle more complex commands.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has a built-in speaker and a microphone, which enable you to make and receive phone calls from your wrist. You can also use the speaker and the microphone to hear and talk to the voice assistants. The speaker and the microphone have a good sound quality, and they are loud enough to hear and be heard in most environments. However, you may need to bring the watch closer to your mouth or ear in noisy places.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has a built-in storage of 2.3GB, which can be used to store music on your watch. You can transfer music from your phone to your watch using the Zepp app, or you can download music from the Zepp Music app on your watch. You can play music from your watch using the built-in speaker, or you can connect a Bluetooth headset to your watch. You can also control the music playback on your watch using the music widget or the music app on your watch. However, the music player on the watch only supports local music, and it does not support streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube Music.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has a built-in GPS and GLONASS that can track your location and route when you exercise outdoors. It also supports Galileo, Beidou, and QZSS satellite systems, which can improve the accuracy and speed of the GPS tracking. You can view your route on the watch after your workout, or you can sync it to the Zepp app on your phone. The GPS tracking works well in most cases, but it may take some time to get a signal, or it may lose the signal in some areas.

Health and Fitness

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is a smartwatch that can also act as a fitness tracker and a health monitor. It can measure your daily activity, such as steps, calories, distance, and active time, and show you your progress and goals on the watch or the Zepp app. It can also track your sleep quality and stages and give you a sleep score and advice on the watch or the Zepp app. It can also monitor your stress level and breathing rate and offer breathing exercises to help you relax on the watch or the Zepp app.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro can also measure your heart rate and blood oxygen levels continuously and accurately, thanks to the BioMetric 3.0 health sensor. It can show you your real-time and historical data on the watch or the Zepp app, and alert you if your values are too high or too low. It can also calculate your PAI score, a personalized health assessment that considers your age, gender, weight, height, and heart rate data. The PAI score ranges from 0 to 100; the higher the score, the healthier you are. The PAI score can help you understand your fitness level and health status and motivate you to stay active and healthy.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro can also track your workouts with 150 sports modes, which cover various activities such as running, cycling, swimming, yoga, golf, skiing, and more. It can record your workout data, such as calories burned, distance traveled, speed, pace, cadence, heart rate zones, swolf, and more, depending on the sport mode. It can also provide you with real-time feedback and voice guidance during your workout giving you a workout summary and analysis on the watch or the Zepp app. It can also sync your workout data to third-party apps such as Strava, Google Fit, and Apple Health.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is a smartwatch that can help you improve your health and fitness with its advanced sensors, smart algorithms, and comprehensive features. It can also help you stay motivated and engaged with your fitness goals with its PAI score, workout feedback, and voice guidance.

Battery and connectivity

According to the official specifications, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has a 450mAh battery that can last up to 12 days on a single charge. However, the actual battery life may vary depending on your usage, settings, and features. For example, if you use the always-on display, the GPS tracking, the voice assistant, the phone calls, or the music playback, the battery life will be reduced significantly. In our tests, we found that the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro can last about 7 days with moderate use, which is still impressive for a smartwatch with such a large and bright display.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro supports wireless charging, a rare feature for a smartwatch in this price range. It comes with a magnetic charger that can be attached to the back of the watch and charged fully in about 2 hours. The charger has a USB-A port, so you can use any standard USB cable or adapter to power it. The charger also has an LED indicator that shows the charging status: red for charging, green for fully charged, and flashing red for error.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro can connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0, which offers a stable and fast connection. You need to pair your watch with your phone using the Zepp app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices. The Zepp app is the main hub for managing your watch, such as customizing the settings, updating the firmware, downloading the watch faces, syncing the data, and more. The Zepp app has a user-friendly interface and rich functionality, but it may have some bugs and glitches at times.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro can also receive notifications from your phone, such as calls, messages, emails, social media, and more. You can view the notifications on your watch and reply to some of them using predefined responses, emojis, or voice input. However, the notification support is limited and inconsistent and may not work for some apps or languages. You can also mute or block the notifications from the watch or the Zepp app.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is a smartwatch that offers a long battery life, wireless charging, and Bluetooth connectivity. It can also receive notifications from your phone, but the notification support is not very reliable.

Conclusion

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is a smartwatch that has a lot to offer for its affordable price. It has a stylish design, a large and bright display, a rotating crown, a speaker and a microphone, a built-in GPS and GLONASS, a BioMetric 3.0 health sensor, 150 sports modes, a voice control and Alexa voice assistant, a music player, and more. It also has a long battery life and wireless charging. It is compatible with Android and iOS devices and can sync with the Zepp app and third-party apps.

However, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro also has some drawbacks and limitations. It has a plastic back, a cheap crown, a poor app store, limited notification support, and a not-very-accurate voice control. It also does not support streaming services, NFC payments, or ECG measurements.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is a smartwatch that can be a great choice for anyone looking for a stylish, functional, and affordable smartwatch. It can also be a good alternative to the more expensive smartwatches such as the Apple Watch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch, or the Fitbit Versa. However, it may not be the best option for those wanting a more polished, versatile, or advanced smartwatch.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is currently available for an all-time low price of $119.99, down from its original $189.99. This is a great deal for a smartwatch that offers so much value. If you are interested in buying the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro, you can order it from the official website or from Amazon.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is a smartwatch that offers style, features, and value. It is a smartwatch that you should not miss.
