  3. The all-wheel-drive Opel Combo Cargo is now available

The all-wheel-drive Opel Combo Cargo is now available

Opel Combo Cargo

The Opel Combo Cargo is the ideal vehicle for professionals searching for a small transporter capable of handling various duties. By journalists from 25 European nations, the Combo Cargo was named "International Van of the Year." It has the most excellent charging choices, the best fuel economy, and CO 2 emissions, but it also now comes standard with a state-of-the-art all-wheel-drive system with the finest traction qualities. In addition, the new Opel Combo Cargo 4x4 offers true off-road capabilities thanks to its precisely synchronized all-wheel-drive system and enhanced ground clearance of up to 110 millimeters.

The Opel Combo Cargo's all-wheel-drive technology is supplied by Alsatian expert Dangel for a net extra of 6,000 euros (plus 1,000 euros for 4x4 conversion preparation by Opel). The all-wheel-drive partners were involved from the start of the new combination generation's development. For instance, the steering and suspension were also developed specifically for the 4x4 variant and are manufactured on-site. As a result, the four-wheel-drive system is designed explicitly for the Combo Cargo, ensuring lots of off-road excitement.

For any occasion: choose between front-wheel drive "Eco" and four-wheel drive "Auto 4WD" modes.

The Opel Combo Cargo drivers can select between two driving modes using the instrument panel's rotary switch: "ECO 2WD" or "AUTO 4WD." All-wheel drive is disabled in "ECO 2WD" mode. The Combo Cargo features rear-wheel drive only to save fuel and emissions and to protect the tires.

If driving conditions deteriorate, the driver may switch to "AUTO 4WD" mode. The torque is sent to the rear axle via the viscous coupling on the central differential if the front wheels slip. The "R. lock" option is advised on even more demanding terrain. This effectively locks the back axle. A locking differential ("limited-slip rear differential") is offered as an option to guarantee optimal traction in even the most challenging terrain conditions. When necessary, it directs the total torque to a rear wheel.

Additionally, the Opel Combo Cargo 4x4 comes standard with a redesigned ESP, engine and gearbox underbody protection, and over 90 millimeters higher ground clearance. On request, the compact all-wheel-drive van may be equipped with additional protection for the tank and rear axle and an extra 20 millimeters of lift. Thus, the vehicle's overall ground clearance at the front improves to 205 millimeters. With the 4x4 drive, the Combo Cargo can negotiate 41-degree grades, or 87 percent, with a front approach angle of 26.6 degrees, a rear approach angle of 38.3 degrees, and a ramp angle of 26 degrees in total.

As with the Opel Combo Life minivan and all other Opel Combo Cargo variants, all-wheel-drive combines universal daily use with maximum efficiency and low operating costs. The 1.5-liter diesel engine with 96 kW/130 horsepower also adds to this (NEDC 1: urban 6.0 l/100 km, extra-urban 5.1 l/100 km, combined 5.4 l/100 km, 144 g/km CO2; WLTP 2: combination 6.8 l/100 km, 179 g/km CO2 ). The engine is mated to a contemporary six-speed manual transmission. This is how business is conducted: the most significant practical advantages and driver aid systems.

The Opel Combo Cargo 4x4 excels in loading length and cargo capacity. It can store objects weighing up to 880 kilograms and measuring up to 3.44 meters in length. The intelligently built loading area between the wheelhouses is also large enough to accommodate the side loading of two Euro pallets.

Simultaneously, the four-wheel-drive transporter, which can reach 4.75 meters in length, features the same astonishing array of technological support technologies as its commercial vehicle and passenger car siblings. Automated speed assistance, tiredness detection, front collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian recognition, blind-spot warning, and head-up display are all included in the portfolio.

Additionally, commercial vehicle types – notably the Combo Cargo 4x4 – are available with a reversing camera. Above the doors, cameras scan the area behind the car and display the results on a five-inch screen. The connected second camera in the passenger's external mirror enhances the overall vision, effectively eliminating the combined freight driver's often-present blind spot on the vehicle's side.

The current generation of entertainment systems enables professional networking in the Opel Combo Cargo's passenger compartment, tailored to automobile standards. The Multimedia Radio and Multimedia Navi Pro gadgets, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible, are conveniently managed via the eight-inch color touchscreen. Furthermore, the integrated navigation of the top-of-the-line system, which includes a road map of Europe and a three-dimensional display, analyses TMC messages and thereby determines the ideal path to the customer based on the circumstances - not least economically.
