25YM Honda X-ADV Review: Best Adventure Bike for Both City Streets and Trails

25YM Honda X-ADV Review: Best Adventure Bike for Both City Streets and Trails

Honda's 25YM X-ADV is a ground-breaking addition to the adventure motorcycle segment, blending rugged off-road capability with the practicality of an everyday urban commuter. Built to satisfy both weekend adventurers and daily riders, this latest model continues Honda's tradition of innovation, offering an upgraded package of power, versatility, and comfort.

Engine Power and Performance

At the heart of the 25YM X-ADV is its updated 745cc twin-cylinder engine, which now delivers even more responsive power. With 57.8 horsepower (43.1 kW) and 50.1 lb-ft (69 Nm) of torque, this motorcycle guarantees robust performance across a variety of terrains. Honda’s focus on low- to mid-range torque ensures the X-ADV excels both on twisty mountain roads and city streets.

The improved throttle-by-wire (TBW) system adds greater precision in controlling power delivery, making the ride smoother and more adaptable to changing conditions. Whether tackling rugged dirt trails or navigating traffic-packed highways, the X-ADV’s powertrain keeps the rider in control.

Fuel efficiency is another standout feature. The X-ADV sips fuel at an impressive rate of 69 mpg (29.4 km/l), making it economical for long rides without sacrificing performance. The 3.6-gallon (13.2-liter) fuel tank ensures a solid range, perfect for extended trips into the wild.

Cutting-Edge Design and Versatility

Honda has crafted the 25YM X-ADV with a distinctive combination of adventure bike ruggedness and modern urban styling. The design boasts sharp, angular lines, giving it a tough, futuristic look. LED headlights, complete with Daytime Running Lights (DRL), provide excellent visibility, while the 5-stage adjustable windshield offers optimal protection against wind and debris.

One of the X-ADV’s standout features is its practical storage solutions. The 22-liter under-seat compartment is large enough to fit a full-face helmet, something most adventure bikes struggle to offer. In addition, a USB charging port ensures riders can keep their devices powered during long trips.

The bike is equipped with a 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), allowing riders to choose between automatic or manual gear shifting modes. In manual mode, riders can take full control of gear changes via handlebar-mounted buttons, while automatic mode seamlessly adjusts to riding conditions.

Key Features of the 25YM X-ADV's Design:

  • 22-liter storage compartment with helmet capacity
  • USB charging port
  • LED lighting system
  • 5-stage adjustable windshield
  • 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

Advanced Electronics and Rider Assistance

Technology is one of the strongest selling points of the 25YM X-ADV. The bike comes packed with an array of advanced electronics designed to enhance the rider's experience and safety.

First on the list is the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), a traction control system that prevents wheel slip, ensuring grip on both wet and off-road surfaces. The HSTC can be adjusted to four levels, allowing riders to tweak settings based on terrain and personal preference.

The motorcycle also comes with four riding modes:

  • Standard: balanced performance for mixed conditions,
  • Sport: enhanced throttle response and reduced traction control intervention,
  • Rain: softer throttle response and increased traction control,
  • Gravel: designed for off-road conditions, offering optimal grip and stability.

These modes enable riders to adapt quickly to changing environments, maximizing both safety and performance.

The 5-inch TFT display offers easy-to-read metrics such as speed, fuel consumption, and riding mode. This digital dash integrates with Honda’s Smartphone Voice Control system for seamless access to calls, messages, and navigation, ensuring riders stay connected without compromising safety.

Suspension and Braking

Honda hasn’t compromised on the suspension system of the 25YM X-ADV. The front features 41mm Showa adjustable inverted forks with 5.3 inches (135mm) of travel, while the rear incorporates a Pro-Link monoshock with 5.9 inches (150mm) of travel. This setup ensures smooth performance over both rough terrain and uneven city streets.

Braking is handled by dual 296mm front discs and a 240mm rear disc, both equipped with ABS to prevent wheel lock-up during hard braking. The brakes offer reliable stopping power, whether in wet or dry conditions, giving riders confidence on any surface.

Key Suspension and Braking Features:

  • 41mm Showa adjustable inverted front forks
  • Pro-Link rear monoshock
  • ABS-equipped dual 296mm front discs
  • ABS-equipped 240mm rear disc

Rider Comfort and Ergonomics

Rider comfort is at the forefront of Honda’s design philosophy for the 25YM X-ADV. The saddle has been designed to accommodate both short and long rides with equal ease. Its 820mm seat height strikes a balance between off-road performance and everyday usability, offering a comfortable posture for most riders.

The addition of heated grips makes cold weather riding far more bearable, while the spacious footboards allow for a range of seating positions, preventing rider fatigue.

Thanks to its dual-sport tires and 17-inch front and 15-inch rear wheels, the bike is capable of handling a variety of surfaces, from city streets to gravel roads.

Pricing and Availability

The 25YM Honda X-ADV is priced competitively, reflecting its array of features and performance. In Europe, the X-ADV starts at around $12,200. This makes it one of the most feature-rich and versatile motorcycles in its price range, offering exceptional value for money.

Available in multiple color options, including Graphite Black, Pearl Deep Mud Gray, and Shasta White, the 25YM X-ADV offers personalization options to match different rider tastes.

Final Thoughts: A New Era of Adventure Riding

The 25YM Honda X-ADV successfully bridges the gap between urban commuting and off-road adventure riding, offering a unique combination of power, versatility, and comfort. Whether you're navigating city streets or exploring dirt trails, this motorcycle delivers a balanced, adaptable ride that few competitors can match.

From its impressive fuel efficiency to its advanced electronics and rugged design, the X-ADV is set to be a game-changer in the adventure segment. It's not just a bike for the weekend warrior; it’s an everyday powerhouse with the durability and flexibility to handle whatever comes its way.

For riders looking for a motorcycle that performs equally well on and off-road, the 25YM Honda X-ADV stands out as a strong contender.
