Fiat Marks 70 Years of the 600 With Hybrid and Electric Models at Italy’s Most Iconic Race
Historic Celebration Meets EV Strategy
The Fiat 600 is back where it started—on Italian roads—this time with electric and hybrid reinforcements. To mark the 70th anniversary of the original 1955 Fiat 600, Stellantis is putting the car back into the spotlight during the 43rd edition of the 1000 Miglia, a regularity race for vintage vehicles. It’s a reminder of Fiat’s postwar contribution to mass mobility and a signal of how the company plans to stay relevant in a post-ICE world.

Why This Matters for Stellantis and Fiat
Stellantis isn’t just preserving heritage—it’s using it to frame the future. The inclusion of the Fiat 600 Hybrid and Abarth 600e in support roles sends a direct message: Fiat wants to position its latest electrified products as successors to a car that once transformed mobility in Italy.
The 1955 Fiat 600: A Mobilizer of Italy
The original 600 debuted in 1955, designed by Dante Giacosa, and helped Fiat transition millions of Italians into car ownership. It was more practical than the 500 “Topolino” it followed, seating four and offering real trunk space. At a time when Italy was rebuilding its economy, this compact car became a symbol of accessibility and independence.
The car at this year’s Miglia is an unrestored light-blue, first-series 600, normally housed at Fiat’s Centro Storico in Turin. It’ll be piloted by an all-woman crew.
