To mark the 70th anniversary of the original 1955 Fiat 600, Stellantis is putting the car back into the spotlight during the 43rd edition of the 1000 Miglia, a regularity race for vintage vehicles. The original 600 debuted in 1955, designed by Dante Giacosa, and helped Fiat transition millions of Italians into car ownership. It was more practical than the 500 “Topolino” it followed, seating four and offering real trunk space. At a time when Italy was rebuilding its economy, this compact car became a symbol of accessibility and independence.
The car at this year’s Miglia is an unrestored light-blue, first-series 600, normally housed at Fiat’s Centro Storico in Turin. It’ll be piloted by an all-woman crew.
