The EICMA 2023, the world’s biggest event dedicated to two-wheeled vehicles, is underway in Milan, Italy, and one of the most eye-catching exhibits is the new Fiat Topolino, a compact, fun and 100% electric car that pays homage to the iconic model of the 1930s. The Topolino, which means “little mouse” in Italian, is designed to offer a sustainable and joyful mobility solution for urban environments, with zero emissions, reduced noise and a charming retro style.
Two versions: closed and open
The Fiat Topolino is available in two versions: the closed one, which has a conventional roof and doors, and the open one, which is called Topolino Dolcevita and features a rollable fabric sunroof and open-air doors with wicker ropes. The Dolcevita version is inspired by the Italian lifestyle of the 1950s and 1960s, when the original Fiat 500 symbolized freedom and happiness. The Fiat Topolino Dolcevita also has exclusive details such as chrome accents, vintage mirrors, wheel covers, a rear carriage, a bag hook, a smartphone holder, and a shower nozzle, making it perfect for the beach.
Both versions of the Topolino have a single-seat configuration with a spacious trunk behind the driver. The interior is minimalist and functional, with a digital dashboard and a docking station for the smartphone, which acts as the main interface for the car’s features. The Topolino has a range of up to 75 km (47 miles) and a top speed of 45 km/h (28 mph), making it ideal for short-distance trips in the city. A normal plug can fully recharge in less than four hours.
A new way to buy a car online
The Fiat Topolino is not only a new car but also a new way to buy a car online. Fiat has launched a simple and innovative digital customer experience, which allows anyone to purchase the Topolino with just three clicks. The price of the Topolino is the same for both versions: 9,890 euros ($11,400), which can be reduced by applying the state incentives for electric quadricycles, if available. The online purchase process starts with the pre-booking phase, called “be the first,” where customers can choose their preferred version and fill out a form. Then, they will receive an email when the Topolino is available for order, and they can complete the transaction online. A local dealer will deliver the Topolino.
A tribute to Fiat’s history and innovation
The Topolino is a tribute to Fiat’s history, innovation, and Italian culture and spirit. Topolino was first used in 1936 for the Fiat 500, a small and affordable car that was a huge success and symbolized Italy’s economic recovery after World War II. The Topolino was also the first car to feature a front-wheel drive layout, a water-cooled engine, and independent suspension, making it a pioneer of modern engineering. The Topolino was produced until 1955 when it was replaced by the new Fiat 500, also known as the Cinquecento, which continued the legacy of the Topolino and became one of the most popular and beloved cars in the world.
The new Fiat Topolino is a reinterpretation of the original model with a modern and electric twist. It is a product of Fiat’s mission to develop sustainable and accessible mobility for the cities, transforming them into relaxing playgrounds where driving becomes a simple and enjoyable experience. The Topolino is also a way to celebrate the 80th edition of EICMA, the most important and long-lived two-wheeler event in the world, where Fiat has always been present with its innovative and charismatic products. The Topolino is a car that electrifies the EICMA 2023 with an exclusive touch of Dolce Vita, bringing joy, color, and style to urban mobility.
