Renault has updated the Megane E-Tech Electric lineup with key advancements, including a sporty Esprit Alpine trim, One Pedal driving, and a bidirectional charger. These updates enhance both performance and efficiency, making the Megane E-Tech Electric a strong contender in the compact EV market.
Esprit Alpine Trim: Sporty Design and Premium Interior
The Esprit Alpine trim brings a dynamic aesthetic and enhanced comfort. Key exterior highlights include:
- Matte Shadow Grey paint with matching front and rear splitters.
- 20-inch Ice Black alloy wheels for a bold stance.
- Ice Black Renault logos at the front and rear.
- Gloss Black window trim and Esprit Alpine badging on the front left wing.
Inside, the cabin features:
- Black embossed fabric seats with blue top-stitching, made from recycled materials.
- Blue, white, and red badge representing Renault’s French heritage.
- Black TEP fabric with blue stitching on the dashboard, armrests, and center console.
- Sporty blue and black theme across the interior.
One Pedal Driving: Efficiency and Comfort
The One Pedal driving system allows drivers to accelerate and decelerate using a single pedal, improving both energy efficiency and ease of use. Key advantages:
- Reduces brake pad wear, lowering maintenance costs.
- Maximizes energy regeneration, extending range.
- Improves urban driving experience, reducing fatigue in stop-and-go traffic.
Renault’s Ampere division developed this system, which will also be used in the upcoming Renault 5 E-Tech Electric and Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric. Vehicles manufactured after March 2024 may receive retrofitting for this feature.
Bidirectional Charging: Powering More than Just the Car
The 11 kW AC bidirectional charger, now standard across all trims, offers increased charging flexibility. Features include:
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability: Power external devices, like coffee machines or electric scooters, using an optional adapter.
- Grid integration: In select markets (such as France), Renault offers a Mobilize Powerbox Verso and a Mobilize electricity contract for Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality, allowing the car to send power back to the grid.
For faster charging, an optional 22 kW AC charger is available.
Plug & Charge: Seamless Charging Experience
The Plug & Charge function streamlines the public charging process by:
- Automatically recognizing the vehicle upon plugging in.
- Starting the charge without requiring membership cards or apps.
- Managing payments through the My Renault app.
The Mobilize Charge Pass offers access to 800,000+ public charging points across 25 European countries.
