Vauxhall, the British car brand that is part of the Stellantis group, has unveiled the new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric, two medium-sized vans offering various options for different business needs. The Vivaro is available with diesel or petrol engines, while the Vivaro Electric is a fully electric van that promises low running costs and zero emissions. Vivaro and Vivaro Electric: design and dimensions
The new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric have a sleek and modern design, with a large grille, LED headlights, and a distinctive Vauxhall badge on the front. The vans come in two body lengths: L1 (4.95 meters) and L2 (5.30 meters) and one roof height (1.90 meters). The load volume ranges from 5.3 to 6.6 cubic meters, depending on the body length and the number of seats. The vans can carry up to 1,400 kg of payload and tow up to 2,500 kg of braked trailer.
The Vivaro and Vivaro Electric also offer a range of options for the interior, such as a multifunction steering wheel, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a head-up display, and a wireless smartphone charger. The vans also have a number of safety and driver assistance features, such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot warning, and adaptive cruise control.
Vivaro and Vivaro Electric: performance and efficiency
The new Vauxhall Vivaro is available with three engine options: a 1.5-litre diesel with 100 hp or 120 hp, and a 2.0-litre diesel with 150 hp or 180 hp. The 1.5-litre diesel engines are paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the 2.0-litre diesel engines have an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The Vivaro can achieve up to 50.4 mpg (UK) of fuel economy and emit as low as 146 g/km of CO2.
The new Vauxhall Vivaro Electric van is powered by a 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor and a choice of two battery sizes: 50 kWh or 75 kWh. The 50 kWh battery offers a range of up to 143 miles, while the 75 kWh battery can go up to 205 miles on a single charge. The Vivaro Electric can be charged from 0 to 80% in as little as 32 minutes using a 100 kW rapid charger or in 7.5 hours using a 7.4 kW wallbox. The Vivaro Electric has a top speed of 81 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 13.1 seconds.
Vivaro and Vivaro Electric: price and availability
The new Vauxhall Vivaro and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric are expected to go on sale in the UK in early 2022, with prices starting from £23,415 ($31,900) for the Vauxhall Vivaro, and £28,361 ($38,700) for the Vauxhall Vivaro Electric, excluding VAT and the government’s plug-in van grant. The vans will be available in three trim levels: Edition, Dynamic, and Elite, with different equipment levels and features.
