The new Volkswagen T-Roc compact sports SUV will be available in dealer showrooms from spring 2022 as the sporty spearhead of the model at a price starting at 48,000 euros. Compared to the previous facelift, the new one has only been carefully revised from the outside: the radiator grille now has an optional Golf-style LED strip and, with the black trim strip underneath, is optically closer to its little brother, the Volkswagen T-Cross. The front end looks flatter and less aggressive - not least because of the omitted horizontal strut in the grille. The shape of the rear headlights remains the same, although the LED signature quotes the Golf.Â
With the 2022 facelift, Volkswagen also offers the four-pipe titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic, which gives the turbocharged four-cylinder a distinctive voice. However, the 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc remains under 300 hp to keep a respectful distance from the Golf R. Combined with the seven-speed DSG and the proven 4Motion all-wheel drive, the new Volkswagen T-Roc compact SUV continues to sprint to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
Because the 2022 VW T-Roc R uses the latest generation of the VW sports steering wheel in the interior, which we already know from other GTI and R models. It has significantly more functions, including a driving mode button. A look to the right reveals the highlight of the facelift interior: When you tick the appropriate options, a 9.2-inch infotainment display protrudes from the dashboard; otherwise, it is eight inches. Both belong to the third generation of the MIB3 modular infotainment matrix, enabling online functions and optional wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Below the screens are digitized air conditioning functions and a new gear selector lever.

Volkswagen has heard the criticism against cheap-looking plastic materials and, among other things, foamed the surface of the instrument panel and provided it with leather-look seams. Everything will probably stay the same with the dimensions (previously: 4241 mm length, 1819 mm width, 1562 mm height), even if VW has not yet communicated them. 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc compact SUV trunk volume is 392 to 1237 liters.
