2023 Lexus ES 300h: The Hybrid Sedan That Drives Like a Sports Car

Lexus ES 300h

The Lexus ES is one of the market's most popular midsize luxury sedans, offering a smooth ride, a spacious cabin, and a refined design. But what if you want more than just comfort and elegance? What if you want a car with exhilarating performance, agile handling, and impressive fuel efficiency? You might want to check out the new Lexus ES 300h, the hybrid version of the ES that promises to be more than just a rolling pill.

The 2023 Lexus ES 300h is not your typical hybrid sedan. It's not slow, boring, or bland. It's a car that can satisfy both your environmental conscience and your driving passion. Here are some of the reasons why you should consider the 2023 Lexus ES 300h as your next luxury car.

It has a powerful and efficient hybrid powertrain

The new Lexus ES 300h is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that produce a combined output of 215 horsepower. That may not sound like much, but it's enough to propel the car from zero to 60 mph in 7.9 seconds. That's faster than some of its competitors, such as the Acura TLX and the Volvo S90.

But the real advantage of the hybrid powertrain is its fuel economy. According to the EPA, the new Lexus ES 300h can achieve up to 44 mpg on the highway and 43 mpg in the city. That's remarkable for a car of its size and class, and it means you can save a lot of money on gas over time. For comparison, the non-hybrid ES 350 with a V6 engine gets only 32 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city.

It offers different trim levels to suit your preferences

The 2023 Lexus ES 300h is available in four trim levels: base, Luxury, F Sport Design, and F Sport Handling. Each trim level offers different features and options for your needs and tastes.

The base trim level comes with standard amenities such as LED headlights, a power moonroof, perforated leatherette upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10-speaker sound system. It also includes several safety and driver-assist features, such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The Luxury trim level adds more comfort and convenience features, such as leather seats with heating and ventilation, wood trim, a power rear sunshade, a hands-free power trunk lid, a wireless charging pad, a heated steering wheel, and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation.

The F Sport Design trim level gives the car a sportier appearance and feel, with features such as black 19-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, front seats with aggressive bolstering, aluminum pedals, F Sport badges, and an LFA-inspired gauge cluster.

The F Sport Handling trim level takes the sportiness to another level by adding a performance-tuned adaptive suspension that adjusts its firmness based on the selected driving mode. It also includes Sport+ and Custom modes that let you customize the steering, throttle, and suspension settings to your liking.

It has a spacious and luxurious interior

The 2023 Lexus ES 300h offers plenty of room for five passengers to stretch out and relax. The front seats are supportive and comfortable, with 10-way power adjustment for both the driver and the passenger. The rear seats are also spacious and cozy, with ample legroom and headroom. The trunk has a decent capacity of 13.9 cubic feet, enough for several suitcases or golf bags.

The Lexus ES 300h interior is also well-appointed and elegant, with high-quality materials and finishes throughout. The dashboard is sleek and modern, with minimal buttons and knobs. The new center console design is more ergonomic and practical, with a revised cup holder location, a sunglass holder, and a new spot for the wireless charger pad. The new infotainment system is much improved over the previous one, with a more responsive touchscreen that replaces the fussy touchpad controller. The sound system is also excellent, delivering crisp and clear audio.

It has a smooth and quiet ride

One of the main strengths of the Lexus ES is its ride quality. The 2023 Lexus ES 300h delivers a smooth, quiet ride that isolates you from road noise and bumps. The suspension is soft and compliant, absorbing most of the imperfections on the pavement. The steering is light and precise, making the car easy to maneuver and park. The brakes are strong and smooth, providing confident stopping power.

The hybrid powertrain is also remarkably quiet and refined, with minimal noise and vibration. The transition between the gas engine and the electric motors is seamless and barely noticeable. The car can also run on electric power alone at low speeds, which adds to the tranquility of the cabin.

It has a sleek and stylish exterior

The new Lexus ES 300h is a handsome car that stands out from the crowd. It is sleek and aerodynamic, with a long hood, short trunk, and sloping roofline. The front end features the signature Lexus spindle grille, flanked by sharp LED headlights and daytime running lights. The rear end has LED taillights that wrap around the fenders, creating a distinctive look. The car also has chrome accents, dual exhaust tips, and a variety of colors to choose from.

The F Sport Design and F Sport Handling trim levels add more flair to the exterior, with blacked-out details, larger wheels, and a sportier stance. The F Sport Handling trim level also has an exclusive Ultra White color option that contrasts nicely with the black elements.

It's a great value for money

The 2023 Lexus ES 300h starts at $43,340, which is a reasonable price for a midsize luxury hybrid sedan. It's cheaper than some of its rivals, such as the BMW 530e ($58,195) and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class E350e ($55,300). It also offers more features and better fuel economy than most of its competitors.

The new Lexus ES 300h is a great choice for anyone who wants a luxury car that can be fun to drive and run efficiently. It's a car that combines comfort, performance, style, and value in one package. If you're looking for a hybrid sedan that drives like a sports car, you should definitely check out the new Lexus ES 300h.
