Kia EV6 GT Delivers 641 HP and 279-Mile Range

Kia EV6 GT Delivers 641 HP and 279-Mile Range

The 2025 Kia EV6 GT targets drivers who demand electric performance with none of the fluff. The refreshed model delivers more horsepower, faster charging, and sharper driver-focused features—all while shaving $3,420 off its previous U.K. base price. Converted to approximately $76,000 USD, the new starting point signals Kia’s intention to stay competitive in the U.S. high-performance EV segment.

Kia’s most powerful EV to date now develops 641 horsepower and 770Nm of torque, figures that put it in the same league as dual-motor rivals from Tesla and BMW. Thanks to its new 84kWh battery and upgraded software tuning, the 2025 EV6 GT launches from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds, on to a top speed of 161 mph.

Key Upgrades: Performance and Engagement

Kia didn’t just add more power. It focused on driver engagement, integrating Virtual Gear Shift—a first for the brand—and expanding its GT Mode for on-demand performance delivery.

Top performance features include:

  • Virtual Gear Shift with paddle simulation and active sound feedback
  • GT Mode activated via neon green steering wheel button
  • All-wheel drive with electronic limited-slip differential
  • 21-inch wheels and sport suspension tuned for dual purpose use

Improved Range and Faster Charging

The EV6 GT’s battery grows to 84kWh, increasing range by 16 miles over the previous model to 279 miles (WLTP). Even with a larger pack, it sheds a kilogram of weight. Charging from 10% to 80% takes just 18 minutes using 800V architecture and a 350kW charger.

Charging and range highlights:

  • 279-mile WLTP range (+16 miles over 2023 GT)
  • 258kW peak charging rate (+8% from previous)
  • 18-minute 10–80% recharge with 350kW DC charger

These metrics matter for real-world EV buyers comparing not just acceleration, but recharge downtime on long trips. Kia positions the EV6 GT as a touring-capable EV with track-day readiness—not just a one-trick pony.

New Technology Inside: Infotainment and Connectivity

The cockpit also sees substantial upgrades. Kia integrates its new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), merging two 12.3-inch displays into a unified driver interface. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now wireless.

Other additions include:

  • Fingerprint recognition
  • Digital key 2.0
  • Meridian 14-speaker sound system
  • Wireless phone charger
  • Expanded over-the-air (OTA) software updates
  • Customizable HUD and GT-themed digital clusters

This focus on seamless tech aligns the GT with rivals offering similar price tags but with higher nameplate recognition. Kia counters with a strong equipment list and low trim complexity—just one configuration with everything standard.

Comfort Matters Too: Ride, Materials, and NVH

Kia softened suspension damping for long-distance use. Sound absorbing tires, new insulation, and semi-decoupler floor carpeting all work to reduce NVH. The result: a quieter ride without sacrificing the GT’s agility or high-speed stability.

Interior upgrades include:

  • Black artificial suede bucket seats with neon green stitching
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Custom ambient lighting
  • Brushed metal-effect surfaces to cut fingerprint smudging

A 20-liter frunk up front and split-folding rear seats offer practical storage. The GT also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability and a 3-pin power outlet beneath the rear bench—features still missing in many EV competitors.

Full Standard Equipment Snapshot

With no trims to sort through, the 2025 EV6 GT includes:

Paint and Customization

Kia keeps things simple. The standard paint is White Pearl. Four premium colors cost more:

  • Runway Red, Midnight Black, Wolf Grey: ~$860 USD
  • Yacht Matt Blue: ~$1,910 USD

These costs are converted from U.K. pricing and may vary slightly if U.S. pricing aligns upon formal release.

U.S. Relevance: A Strategic EV Flagship

While this release targets U.K. markets, U.S. dealers can expect similar specs. Kia’s push to streamline high-performance EV pricing and deliver full-featured models with fewer configuration options mirrors successful strategies from Tesla and Hyundai N Division.

The EV6 GT is no halo concept. It’s a production-ready electric grand tourer that charges quickly, drives hard, and comes loaded. With its $76,000 USD equivalent price, the 2025 EV6 GT undercuts Model S, beats BMW i4 M50 on standard equipment, and retains practical utility.

Final Word

For performance EV buyers seeking speed, tech, and long-distance comfort, the 2025 Kia EV6 GT delivers. It accelerates faster, charges quicker, and adds tools like Virtual Gear Shift to make the experience more tactile.

There’s no fluff here—just data-backed upgrades wrapped in a pragmatic, driver-first approach. Kia’s strategy is simple: build a better EV, price it right, and give buyers everything they need, standard.
