The new Volkswagen ID Buzz debuts with 204 hp

Volkswagen ID Buzz

After a long promotional campaign, Volkswagen finally launched the new zero-emission model ID.Buzz. Developed on the MEB architecture, it is available in two variants: ID.Buzz for passengers and ID.Buzz Cargo for cargo.

Initially, the passenger version will be offered in Europe with five seats, but later a variant with six seats and a standard wheelbase will be available. Next year, Volkswagen ID.Buzz will be able to be ordered on the Old Continent and in a version with a long wheelbase and seven seats.

In terms of size, both variants measure 4,712 millimeters in length, 1,985 millimeters are passed in width, the wheelbase is 2,988 millimeters, and the height is 1,937 in the case of ID.Buzz. The Cargo variant is 10 millimeters taller. Volkswagen wanted the electric ID.Buzz to make you think of the famous T1, and the retro exterior elements do just that. Of course, there are some futuristic elements, such as the optional IQ Light LED Matrix headlights.

Aluminum rims between 18 and 21 inches in diameter are reserved for higher trim levels, while 18-inch steel rims equip the base and Cargo versions.

The interior is "green", meaning we don't find animal material here. The steering wheel is covered with polyurethane, which imitates leather, and the seats are covered in a textile material that contains 72% recycled materials. For the ceiling and floor, Volkswagen used a textile made of recycled plastic.

Passengers will find inside a 10-inch display for on-board digital instrumentation and a 10-inch center screen for the multimedia system (12 inches, optional). Wireless charging for smart devices is standard, and superior equipment will also include electrically adjustable chairs with memory and massage functions.

The new Volkswagen ID.Buzz comes with two sliding doors as standard. In the back, you have 1,121 liters for luggage, and the rear seat can be folded in a ratio of 40:60. The center console, developed by the Commercial Vehicles division, can be removed as needed. It integrates several storage compartments, including a 5-liter space for tablets and laptops.

The autonomy has not been communicated, but the Germans claim that the car can be charged at AC stations up to 11 kW, but also at fast-charging stations up to 170 kW.

The new Volkswagen ID Buzz will be produced at the Hanover plant and will enter the assembly line in the first half of 2022. The list of orders will open in Europe in May.
