Opel has unveiled the new Combo Electric, a light commercial vehicle that combines a fresh design, a digital cockpit, and an extended driving range. The new Combo Electric is the first in its segment to offer the innovative Intelli-Lux LED Matrix Light, which provides optimal visibility without dazzling other drivers. The new Combo Electric also boasts a spacious cargo area, a high payload capacity, and a choice of two lengths and seating configurations. Whether for urban deliveries, tradespeople, or passenger transport, the new Combo Electric is ready for any business challenge.
A New Face for the Opel Combo
The new Combo Electric features the distinctive Opel Vizor, the brand’s signature front fascia that integrates the Blitz emblem with the headlamps and the grille. The Opel Vizor gives the new Combo Electric a modern and dynamic appearance while also improving aerodynamics and reducing wind noise.
The new Combo is available in two body lengths: the standard version measures 4.40 meters, while the XL version stretches to 4.75 meters. Both versions can accommodate two or three front seats, and the XL version can also be ordered as a five-seat Crew Cab with a foldable second row.
Intelli-Lux LED Matrix Light: A Segment First
The Opel Combo Electric is the first compact van to offer the state-of-the-art Intelli-Lux LED Matrix Light, previously only available on Opel’s passenger cars. The Intelli-Lux LED Matrix Light consists of 14 LED elements that automatically adjust the length and distribution of the light beam according to the traffic situation. When the system detects the lights of another vehicle, it switches off individual LEDs to avoid blinding other drivers while maintaining optimal road illumination. The Intelli-Lux LED Matrix Light also adapts to different driving modes, such as city, country, or highway, and enhances the visibility of pedestrians and cyclists.
More Range for the Combo Electric
The new Combo Electric is powered by a 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor and a 50 kWh lithium-ion battery that can be fast-charged up to 80% in 30 minutes. The new Combo Electric offers an extended driving range of up to 330 kilometers (WLTP combined cycle), 50 kilometers more than its predecessor. The new Combo Electric also features three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Power, which allow the driver to adjust the performance and efficiency of the vehicle according to the driving conditions and the load.
The Opel Combo Electric is compatible with various charging options, such as wall boxes, public stations, or domestic sockets. It comes with a standard Mode 3 cable and an optional Mode 2 cable.
A Digital Cockpit with Class-Leading Connectivity
The new Opel Combo electric van offers a high level of comfort and convenience for the driver and the passengers, thanks to its new digital cockpit and advanced connectivity features. The new Combo Electric is equipped with a 10-inch color touchscreen that displays the infotainment and navigation functions, battery status, and energy flow. The touchscreen is based on the Snapdragon® Cockpit Platforms from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., which provide a fast and intuitive user experience.
The new Combo also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and wireless charging for compatible smartphones. The new Combo Electric also offers a range of driver assistance systems, such as lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, forward collision alert, and automatic emergency braking.
One of the Opel Combo Electric highlights is the Dynamic Surround Vision, which uses four cameras on the touchscreen to project a 360-degree view of the vehicle and its surroundings or the new high-definition digital rearview mirror. This feature helps the driver to maneuver in tight spaces and to avoid obstacles.
A Versatile and Practical Cargo Area
The new Combo Electric is designed to meet the needs of various businesses and professions with its versatile and practical cargo area. The new Combo Electric offers a load volume of up to 3.8 cubic meters for the standard version and up to 4.4 cubic meters for the XL version.
The new Combo Electric can also carry a payload of up to 800 kilograms and tow a trailer of up to 750 kilograms. The new Combo Electric features a wide sliding side door and a low loading sill, which facilitate the loading and unloading of goods. The new Combo Electric also offers various storage compartments and hooks and an optional roof flap that allows the transport of long items.
