Toyota Crown Estate Debuts: Hybrid and PHEV Wagon-SUV with AWD

Toyota Crown Estate

Toyota has introduced the Crown Estate, the latest addition to its esteemed Crown series, in Japan. This new model combines the sophistication of a wagon with the robustness of an SUV, offering a vehicle that caters to diverse lifestyles.

Design and Aesthetics

Exterior Design

The 2025 Toyota Crown Estate showcases a sleek cabin design, achieved through the GA-K platform. Sharp shoulder lines extend from the front to the rear, seamlessly connecting with the hood's character lines. Large 21-inch aluminum wheels enhance its dynamic stance. The front features a bumper-integrated grille matching the body color, with a mesh pattern that subtly transitions from top to bottom, adding to its refined appearance.

Interior Design

Inside, the Crown Estate adopts an island architecture layout, grouping functions like displays and controls centrally to minimize driver distraction. The horizontal arrangement of meter displays ensures minimal eye movement, promoting effortless long-distance driving. Vintage-style cloud patterns adorn the Saddle Tan and Grayish Blue trim areas, providing a high-quality, accentuated design.

Color Options

Customers can choose from five monotone and five bi-tone body colors, catering to various preferences. The Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) model offers an exclusive Precious Metal x Massive Gray bi-tone option, emphasizing exclusivity. Interior themes include Black, Saddle Tan, and a PHEV-exclusive Grayish Blue, each reflecting different lifestyle aesthetics.

Performance and Powertrain

The Crown Estate offers both Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) options, accommodating a wide range of customer lifestyles.

Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV)

  • Engine: 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder hybrid engine
  • Total System Output: 236 horsepower
  • Transmission: Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
  • Drivetrain: Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD)

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)

  • Engine: 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor
  • Total System Output: 302 horsepower
  • Transmission: E-CVT with sequential shift
  • Drivetrain: Electronic On-Demand AWD
  • Electric-Only Range: Approximately 42 miles

Dimensions and Cargo Capacity

The 2025 Crown Estate measures 194.1 inches in length, 74 inches in width, and 64 inches in height, positioning it between the Toyota RAV4 and Harrier in Toyota's lineup. This size offers a spacious interior suitable for families and active individuals.
