Opel Mokka Electric: The Affordable EV That Outperforms Its Rivals

Opel Mokka

The Opel Mokka Electric is a compact crossover that offers a lot of value for money. It has a longer range, more power, and more energy efficiency than many of its competitors in the same segment. Here’s why you should consider this EV for your next car purchase.

Range and Charging

One of the most important factors for any electric car buyer is how far it can go on a single charge. The Opel Mokka Electric has a WLTP-rated range of 324 kilometers (201 miles), which is more than enough for most daily driving needs. It also has a 50-kWh battery pack that can be recharged from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes using a 100-kW DC fast charger. That means you can easily top up your battery during a coffee break or a shopping trip.

The Opel Mokka Electric also supports regenerative braking, which recovers energy from deceleration and feeds it back into the battery. This helps extend the range and reduce brake wear. You can choose from two levels of regenerative braking: D (Drive) or B (Brake). In most situations, the latter provides more deceleration and allows you to drive with one pedal.

Power and Performance

The Opel Mokka Electric is not just a practical car; it’s also a fun one to drive. It has a 100-kW (136-hp) electric motor delivers instant torque and smooth acceleration. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.5 seconds and has a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph).

The Opel Mokka Electric also has three driving modes to suit different driving styles and conditions: Normal, Eco, and Sport. Normal mode provides a balanced performance and efficiency, Eco mode optimizes energy consumption and range, and Sport mode enhances responsiveness and agility.

The Opel Mokka Electric also has a low center of gravity thanks to the placement of the battery pack under the floor. This improves stability and handling, making the car more fun to drive around corners. The car also has a McPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension that provide comfort and control on different road surfaces.

Energy Efficiency

The Opel Mokka Electric is not only good for the environment, it’s also good for your wallet. It has a low energy consumption of 17.8 kWh/100 km (28.6 kWh/100 miles), which means you can save money on fuel costs compared to a conventional gasoline or diesel car.

The Opel Mokka Electric also has a heat pump system that uses waste heat from the electric motor, battery pack, and outside air to heat the cabin. This reduces the need for electric heating, which can drain the battery and reduce the range. The heat pump system can increase the range by up to 20% in cold weather.

The Opel Mokka Electric also has an e-remote control feature that lets you pre-condition the cabin temperature and battery level using your smartphone or the MyOpel app. This way, you can ensure that your car is ready to go when you are without wasting energy or compromising comfort.

It has a bold design that features a Vizor front grille, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and Opel Blitz logo projection on the ground when you open the doors. It also has a choice of eight exterior colors, including two-tone options with a black roof.

The Opel Mokka Electric also has a spacious and modern interior with a digital cockpit with two screens: a 10-inch infotainment display and a 12-inch driver information display. The infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as wireless charging for compatible devices. The driver information display shows key information such as speed, range, battery level, and navigation.

The Opel Mokka Electric also has a host of advanced safety and driver assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera.

Price and Availability

The Opel Mokka Electric is a great option for anyone looking for an affordable, practical, and fun electric car. It has a starting price of â‚¬34,950 in Germany, which includes the battery pack and an 8-year/160,000-km (100,000-mile) warranty. It is also eligible for various government incentives and tax benefits in different markets. The Opel Mokka Electric is available to order now in Europe.
