Sales start for the new Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ electric car

Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+

Mercedes-Benz has announced the start of sales for the EQS electric model on the German market. Mercedes-Benz had unveiled the new EQS electric car in April. It is probably the most advanced electric car in the world, with an overwhelming technological package.

Inspired by the Vision EQS concept presented in 2019, the fresh Mercedes-Benz EQS is an electric limousine measuring 5265 mm, meaning it is very close to the size of an S-Class with an increased wheelbase. It is based on a completely new platform dedicated to electric cars and carries forward the design philosophy we have already viewed on the Mercedes-Benz EQC and EQA.

The front optical blocks are triangular and are joined by an LED strip. The taillights make a discreet reference to the filament of the old bulbs. Digital Light headlights allow the design of warnings or indications directly on the road. The new Mercedes-Benz EQS electric car has two new support functions that display a signal if Lane Keeping Assist or Blind Spot Assist detects a potential hazard. The headlights have a light module with three extremely strong LEDs, their light being refracted and directed by 1.3 million micro-mirrors.

The designers claim that the time for sharp edges has passed, so the new EQS seeks to be as fluid and as rounded as possible. The model also benefits from many aerodynamic innovations that give it a record coefficient of only 0.20 Cx, slightly better than its conventional counterpart (the S-Class has 0.22 Cx). As a result, it is the best aerodynamic value of a production vehicle.

The new Mercedes-Benz EQS is available in two versions: EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4Matic. Both versions have the same battery pack, with an impressive capacity, meant to cure everyone of the anxiety of reduced autonomy. The lithium-ion battery pack has 108.6 kWh.

The new Mercedes-Benz EQS entry-level version benefits from a single-engine, responsible for moving only the rear axle. It develops 330 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. The luxury electric sedan sprints from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.2 seconds with these resources. The EQS has a top speed limited to 210 km / h, a feature also valid for the more powerful version of the range. The consumption of the entry-level version is 20.4 kWh. Prices start at about 106,000 euros for the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic version has two engines, one on the front axle and one on the rear axle, which go hand in hand to deliver a total power of 516 horsepower. With such support, the electric limousine sprints up to 100 km / h in just 4.1 seconds. For the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 electric car, prices on the German market start at 135,000 euros.

Autonomy is the most important aspect when it comes to an electric car. Mercedes-Benz EQS is the electric model with one of the most comfortable autonomy. Officially, Mercedes-Benz EQS electric car has a range of up to 770 kilometers.

In addition to the Augmented Reality Head-up Display and the turning radius of an A-Klasse (taken from the S-Class), the new EQS electric car now includes a function called Drive Pilot, which allows the driver to take his hand off the steering wheel for an indefinite time, as long as the speed does not exceed 60 km / h. The option is valid only in Germany, and other European countries will allow this option soon from a legislative point of view.

The Electric Intelligence navigation function plans the fastest and most convenient route, which includes charging stations, based on several factors and having the ability to react dynamically to traffic jams or a change in driving style. A new feature is to view the battery capacity on the MBUX infotainment system. Manually added route charging stations are prioritized in route configuration, and suggested stations can be excluded. Also, the approximate charging costs for each charging station are calculated.

Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new technology on EQS that will appeal to those who want the cleanest air. With Energizing Air Control Plus, Mercedes-Benz filters the air inside the EQS. The process is based on a filtration system, sensors, a display concept, and air conditioning. Then, using the pre-entry climate control function, passengers can clean the air inside before entering the vehicle. @via Mercedes-Benz.
