Mercedes-AMG has unveiled a special edition of the SL63 4MATIC+ to commemorate the end of the 2022 Formula One season. It is inspired by the Mercedes-AMG F1 W12 E PERFORMANCE race car. The color progression from high-tech silver metallic to obsidian black metallic is inspired by a model from motorsport's top class. The same can be said about the star pattern on the vehicle's flanks and the PETRONAS-colored contrasts on the front apron, side sill panels, and rear diffuser. There are also 21-inch AMG 10-twin-spoke forged wheels in matt black with PETRONAS-colored rim flanges. The electric soft top is finished in black.
The Mercedes-AMG Aerodynamics kit improves the aerodynamic capabilities and appearance: larger flics on the front and back aprons, a larger rear diffuser, and an active profile in the underbody. The same may be said for downforce and aerodynamic drag. All of this contributes to improved high-speed driving dynamics and efficiency.
The AMG Night package and AMG Night package II improve the "Motorsport Collectors Edition's" visual appeal. The rear diffuser's front splitter, mirror caps, and ornamental trim are all finished in high-gloss black with the AMG Night package. Darkened exhaust tailpipes are also included. The AMG Night package II includes additional black chrome highlights such as the radiator grille, lettering, and the Mercedes star at the back. Furthermore, the inside components of the headlamps and rear lights have been darkened. The AMG high-performance composite brake system's brake calipers are also black. The AMG gasoline filler cap in silver chrome with "AMG" writing emphasizes the edition's special status.
