All-new BMW i5 Sedan: A Pillar of Electric Excellence

All-new BMW i5 Sedan: A Pillar of Electric Excellence

The BMW i5 Sedan is the latest addition to the German automaker’s electric lineup, and it promises to deliver a thrilling driving experience with zero emissions. The i5 Sedan is based on the BMW i Vision concept car that debuted in 2017, and it features a sleek design, a spacious interior, and a powerful electric drivetrain.

The BMW i5 Sedan is part of BMW’s ambitious plan to have 25 electrified models by 2023, of which 12 will be fully electric. The i5 Sedan joins the BMW i3 hatchback, the i4 coupe, and the BMW iX SUV as the brand’s core electric offerings. BMW says the i5 Sedan will be a “pillar in electric form” that will appeal to customers who want a premium and sustainable sedan.

What makes the BMW i5 Sedan stand out?

The BMW i5 Sedan has several features that make it a compelling choice for electric car buyers. Here are some of them:

  • Design: The i5 Sedan has a striking appearance that combines elegance and sportiness. The front end features a large kidney grille that houses sensors and cameras for driver assistance systems. The headlights are slim and sharp, while the taillights are connected by a light strip that runs across the trunk lid. The roofline is sloping and aerodynamic, giving the car a coupe-like silhouette. The i5 Sedan also has distinctive blue accents on the grille, wheels, and side skirts that highlight its electric identity.
  • Performance: The i5 Sedan is powered by two electric motors that produce a combined output of 536 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph. The i5 Sedan also has an adaptive air suspension that adjusts to different road conditions and driving modes. The car has four driving modes: Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport, and Adaptive. Each mode changes the steering, throttle, suspension, and regenerative braking settings to suit the driver’s preference.
  • Range: The i5 Sedan has a large battery pack that offers an estimated range of 373 miles on a single charge. The battery can be recharged using various methods, including fast charging stations that can replenish 80% of the battery in 35 minutes. The car also has wireless charging capability that allows it to charge without plugging in. The wireless charging pad can be installed at home or at public parking spots.
  • Technology: The i5 Sedan is equipped with a host of advanced technology features that enhance safety, comfort, and convenience. The car has a digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. The car also has a head-up display that projects key information onto the windshield. The i5 Sedan has several driver assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, parking assist, and collision avoidance. The car also has an intelligent personal assistant that responds to voice commands and learns from the driver’s habits.

How much does the BMW i5 Sedan cost?

The BMW i5 Sedan is expected to go on sale in late 2023 as a 2024 model-year vehicle. The car will compete with other luxury electric sedans such as the Tesla Model S, the Mercedes-Benz EQS, and the Audi e-tron GT. The pricing for the i5 Sedan has not been announced yet, but it is likely to be in line with its rivals. For comparison, the Tesla Model S starts at $79,990 (before tax credits), while the Mercedes-Benz EQS starts at $102,310 (before tax credits).

The BMW i5 Sedan is a stunning example of how BMW is embracing electrification and innovation. The car offers a blend of style, performance, range, and technology, making it one of the most attractive electric sedans on the market. If you are looking for a premium and sustainable sedan that will turn heads on the road, you should definitely consider the BMW i5 Sedan as your next car.
